Deeeeeeeeeeep...ressing

Tomorrow will be the darkest day of the year, but that is really just a planetary distinciton, as "it's the shortest amount of time between sunrise and sunset. This is caused by the Earth's relation to the sun, as well as the angle of the Earth's tilt." Really, the darkest day of the year is the day you wake up in the morning and realize that life's crushing meaninglessness has so insinuated itself into your very being that even the awareness of the mundane  brutalities which characterize the empty actions that occur continuously as you're putting one foot in front of the other is no longer enough to register on the scale of existential despair that at least once provided you with the minuscule comfort of knowing that you were still able to feel something, even if it was a mix of heart-searing sadness and a somewhat more intense misery at the realization of just how negligible your own emotions actually were, to you or anyone else. Coincidentally, THAT day is also tomorrow, but in addition it is every day after for the remainder of your time on Earth. Dress warm.-Alex Balk

Oh yeah and today next year the world ends hah....

Frank Zappa Unaired Unreleased Interview 1985

Previously never aired or released interview with Frank Zappa.  Zappa critiques the state of modern rock and roll, censorship, conformity, sex, consumerism, MTV and more.
The interview took place a few weeks before Zappa testified on Capitol Hill in September of 1985 at the infamous Senate Porn Rock Hearings on record labeling. At the controversial time the station must have decided it was too racy to air. For whatever reason, it remained unseen until it was smuggled out of the studio by someone who realized it’s value as rock history yesss!

favorite part:"The national bird. The eagle, he's ok, but he's an endangered species.  We're gonna go for the ostrich.  The ostrich represents the way things really are.  When the ostrich gets scared it sticks its head in the ground, it sticks its ass up in the air, and it quakes a little. Ok that will be the new American national bird.  Now the flag.  The red is too racy, the blue is too deep, and the white is too hard to keep clean.  we're gonna do away with that it's gonna be Beige.  That way it doesn't offend anybody and it looks great as wallpaper on a marriott" hahahah love him!

The Kooks: Philadelphia 11/15 at the Trocadero

The Kooks haven't been back since their quick tour in June and America has been craving their sweet poppy tunes and fantastic live shows more than anything.

The concert was a perfect mix of all three albums featuring almost the same number of songs from each . The Postelles warmed up the crowd with their 50s soda poppy pop and got everyone feelin good and ready to twist and shout. The Kooks then came out with their new single "Is it Me" followed up by major pump up songs "Always Where I Need To Be" and the "Sofa Song".  Their previous tours were always started with "Always Where I Need To Be" and ended with "Sofa Song" so we were curious about what they would play for the rest of the night.

We were also curious about, where Paul was, the drummer? Oh well it was a fantastic show as all Kooks shows are.  They are  a band who really gives 100% in each and every one of their performances which can be a rarity these days.

Surprisingly they didn't cover any songs so it was just pure Kooks' magic.  The chemistry they have on stage is beyond bromance and Luke's got swagger .   It was great seeing them perform their new songs using the new sounds they played with on their record.  The song they did not play live but which is a real beauty on their new album is "Time Above the Earth".  The violin is just so beautiful and the song ends too soon.   I would really like to see them write more songs like it, a bit less love poppy, and really see them delve deeper lyrically.

The theater, the Trocadero, was a great venue.  The 1st floor was spacious and the 2nd floor was 21 and older which was kind of annoying you couldn't drink downstairs.  The upstairs was great and all its just that the balcony seating kinda killed the concert vibe. The standing area's sightline was pretty obstructed by the ceiling and you had to crouch down or be content with just looking at all of their skinny jean clad legs...not complaining

Everyone leaves a Kooks concert with a smile on their face and wanting more.  We will always love them as one of our favorite bands "no matter what". Me and Liz pinky swore to each other.  They've been with us through the bittersweet pains of growing up and are always their when you need a good tune.  Whether happy, sad, nostalgic, or lovedrunk. Oh, and they also go great with our old pal Calico Jack. Now all we gotta do is find a way to see them again....on sunday.....in DC. Girls can dream can't they?
     peace & love<33

When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you
If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do
Fate is kind
She brings to those to love
The sweet fulfillment of
Their secret longing
Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true..............swag
